Medieval Jewish Philosophy and its Islamic background, especially the philosophy of Maimonides, his epistemology, metaphysics, and theory of interpretation. Present projects include Maimonides' theory of prophecy and his interpretation of the Aqedah. 2. Contemporary Philosophy of Language and Semantics. Present projects include the semantics of quotations as pictures and a history of the reception of Quine's Indeterminacy Thesis. 3. The history of skepticism and contemporary epistemology. Present projects include a "commentary" on Hume's Dialogues and his skepticism. 4. Later medieval philosophy of language among Jewish thinkers, such as Profyat Duran and Judah Messer Leon.
